Argumentive Essay

 Topic: "In a democracy, people have the right to free speech but does that right include the right to use hate speech."

About 98% of the countries are democratic countries around the world. Democratic countries are those countries where citizens elect their own government. In these countries citizens are given with their freedom for everything. Just like that, citizens are given with their right of free speech where citizens can share their thoughts and express themselves freely. But some citizens misuse their right where they try to spread negative talks and try to discriminate a group of peoples or individual. Therefore, the right of free speech given to public is not for hate speech as it leads to misuse of right, misleads of public and defamation case arises.

Firstly, the right to use the hate speech leads to misuse of right. This misuse of speech has lead to insecure society to live in. For example, many females model around the world are brutally body shamed by the people. People are doing due to freedom of expression, however, people use hate speech to expose the truth of a people, a group of individuals. When people use hate speech it hurts other person mentally and emotionally leading to anxiety or distress.

Secondly, the right to use the hate speech leads to misleads of public. This misleads of speech to the public has led to counterfeit society. Every individual is deceiving one another. For example, some journalists are deceiving people around the world by spreading fake news and information. That's why some uneducated people are deceived by that fake information, they believe what they hear. However, the use of hate speech misleads the public not to believe what others says. But misleads of speech have made everyone unreliable to one another.

Thirdly, the right to use the hate speech leads to defamation case. This days many powerful people are defamate by the people by exposing their truths. Everyone is running towards good people to damage their good reputation. For example, on August 2018, Bhutanese journalists was sentenced to three months imprisonment for a Facebook post about a child abuse case. However, some people claim that through this defamation case exposes truth. But either of the way the person being defamed get mentally and emotionally disturbed.

To conclude, the right to free speech does not means to use hate speech. Using of hate speech it has led to misuse of right, misleads to the public and arises of defamation case. As a democratic countries, public should use their rights in correct manner, they should know fundamental rights and duties. Therefore, all the countries around the world being democratic country, the use of hate speech must be avoided.
